Hair Transplant Review

Hair Transplant Cost

When you're reviewing hair transplant costs you'll find that prices vary across the board.

The cost of a transplant depends on factors like

 - The Surgeon You Choose

 - Location of the Clinic

 - Extent of Your Hair Loss

 - How Many Grafts Are Needed To Get The Look You Want

 - What Type of Procedure You Choose To Have

Some hair surgeons charge per graft and other will assess your needs and give a flat fee cost.  While you won't know for sure what kind of cost you're looking at until you've interviewed several surgeons, here are some things to keep in mind about Hair Transplant Costs:

5 Things To Know About Hair Transplant Cost:

1) Make sure you get at least 3 quotes (or more) before making your final decistion.  You might be suprised at the variation in prices.  I know one guy who was quoted from $4000 to $17,000 by different surgeons when he was pricing out his transplant.

Another benefit to interviewing at least 3 surgeons is that you'll also get a healthy idea of what each surgeon can do for you and what they each recommend for your situation.

2) Never decide on a hair transplant doctor based on cost alone (i.e. because he's so much lower than anybody else). This is one area where you don't want to take a chance.  Remember that if you get a bad hair transplant, it will end up costing you more to fix it and redo it than it would if you went with a higher priced, higher quality surgeon in the first place. Do it once and do it right.

3) Average costs for a hair transplant vary however many are dependent on the type of surgery you decide to do (for example the cost per graft of the FUSS method is generally cheaper than the cost per graft of the FUE method).  For example, the average cost per graft of the FUSS method is $4-8 per graft and the average cost per graft of the FUE method is $11-$22 per graft.

4) Repair work (where you've had a previous surgery done but were not happy with it) will often cost more depending on your situation. And some highly popular surgeons are now in such high demand they don't even want to take the time to deal with repair situations. Again, do it once and do it right.

5) If you've done your research, interviews and comparisons and are satisfied with your choice of hair transplant surgeon - ask the surgeon if he will cut you a deal on the cost.  If the surgeon knows that you're shopping around, they are sometimes more than willing to give you a discount. You never know unless you ask!

One final note on hair transplant costs:  Many physicians are now offering very reasonable financing options to make more affordable for you.  This is a viable alternative to paying the whole cost up front.  Ask your surgeon if he/offers this option.
