Hair Thickener
While a hair thickener won't slow or reverse your hair loss, it can help cover it up for a while. Hair Thickeners can help build density into thinning hair and make it appear fuller.
Hair Thickeners can also be used after a hair transplant to help cover up scars, or thinning areas where the new hair has not yet started to grow.
Using a hair thickener is also an option for those people who don't want to use medical treatments like Rogaine or Propecia. If you're trying to go the organic, natural route to slowing or reversing your hair loss, a hair thickener can be a non-toxic way to cover your hair loss while trying alternative methods.
Hair Thickeners are also a great alternative to wigs, toupees and other hair systems - which can often damage the hair you still have on your head. Often maintainting a hair system becomes a hassle for the wearer. So given an easier alternative like a hair thickener, many people will gladly choose to go that route.
Just keep in mind that in order for a hair thickener to work, you have to have at least some hair to work with. If you're completely bald, a hair thickener won't help.
One hair thickener I've tried both in the thinning and post hair transplant times, is Megathik. It's not a cream or a spray, more like tiny hair fibers that you sprinkle on your hair to add density.
The fibers bond with existing hair to make it look thicker. Once you put it on, you just comb it through your hair and hairspray the fibres into place.
It does take a bit of skill at first, but once you get the hang of it, it looks pretty good. Most people can't tell at all and it definitely helped the look of my hair - especially right after my hair transplant surgery when I had to go out to a special occasion and needed to cover up my scar.
Megathik is a natural product that will not interfere or react with any re-growth product that you may be using on your scalp or taking orally.
The downside is that Megathik only comes in standard colors (black, dark brown, medium brown and light brown.) so if you have a really unique hair color, it won't look so hot. Also, as with any hair thickener, it isn't a permanent solution. However it's still a great way to cover over thinning hair for a while if you aren't sure what to do about losing your hair.
There are other hair thickeners out there but Megathik was the best one I used.
